Groundbreaking research shows Plastic penetrates our brain through the nose
A groundbreaking study by the University of Sao Paulo has shown for the first time how plastic can penetrate the human brain.
Maria Westerbos, our director, was interviewed yesterday afternoon in the RTL program ‘5 o’clock Live’ about the work of the Plastic Soup Foundation and her personal motives to fight tirelessly against the plastic soup for nine years. Halfway through the interview, she was suddenly completely overwhelmed by Daphne Bunskoek and Caroline Tensen with a golden cheque: a one-time donation from the Postcode Lottery of one million euros!
We are incredibly grateful for this enormous amount of money! It will allow us to continue working on our mission to stop plastic pollution in the next three years.
In recent years, we have increasingly focused on the impact of plastic pollution on our health and we are already in the process of organizing the second edition of the Plastic Health Summit, on October 29th in Amsterdam. Additionally, we have taken the first legal steps to stop the pollution of our rivers and seas with plastic granules, the so-called nurdles, by the plastic industry in the Netherlands and Belgium. And we are going to try to make World Cleanup Day on 19 September an even greater success than it already was last year.
In short: this donation gives us wings!
Thank you, National Postcode Lottery!
