Vacancies at Plastic Soup Foundation

Fighting plastic pollution together

Vacancy: communications officer | contentmaker

How would you feel if your content were seen all over the world and made a real difference?

If, thanks to you, the world became a little bit better? Does that appeal to you? If so, you might just be the person we’re looking for.

Who are you?

You believe creating content about plastic pollution is incredibly important; you’re deeply interested in the subject and want to do something about it with all your heart and soul. Ideally, you’d like to make your mark by being responsible for your posts, articles, videos, animations, stills, adverts, flyers, captions, short copy, headings and hashtags from start to finish. It doesn’t matter to you, as long as it touches people.

Who are we?

The Plastic Soup Foundation operates from an office in Amsterdam. With a core team of permanent staff, we work alongside a broad, flexible network of specialists, freelancers, agencies and other organisations.

What do we expect from you? You have a degree in communications.

After completing your studies or gaining a few years’ experience, you’re looking for a challenge at a charity that makes an impact. As a Communications Officer at the Plastic Soup Foundation, you’ll be the link between content and public communications that can appear anywhere.

You’ll be working alongside colleagues who know everything about plastic and others who focus on the creative side. Your communications will be published on our website, social media and app, amongst other platforms.

You will also contribute to our publications, such as reports, press releases, pitch documents and content resources for other organisations. You will maintain contact with our current marketing and communications partners, communications agencies, media platforms and publishers.

Here’s what we expect from you:

  • Content creation, gathering and production
  • Website management via CMS
  • Content calendar management – Meta
  • Managing social media strategy
  • Webcare
  • Optimisation based on data
  • Setting up paid ads
  • Writing and posting blogs/news articles
  • Posting interviews with the Business Community
  • Adding links and backlinks to the website
  • Editing text/images on the website • Writing Google Ads
  • Updating Google Ads based on campaigns and current themes
  • Contributing ideas for new campaigns
  • Regularly presenting conversion rates and results.

We prefer candidates whose first language is Dutch.

What do we offer?

We have a vacancy for a new colleague for 16 hours per week at our office at Mauritskade 64 (KIT) in Amsterdam.

You will start in mid-April 2026 on a six-month contract.

There is scope for working from home, but we expect you to spend at least 50% of your time in the office.

Depending on your experience and the number of hours you work per week, the salary range is between €2,000 and €3,000 gross based on a 36-hour week. We offer a pension scheme, travel allowance and a laptop.

Will you apply? Are you up for the challenge?

Don’t wait too long, as the deadline for applications is 1 April 2026. Please send your cover letter and CV to info@plasticcsoupfoundation.org.

If you have any questions, please send them to the same email address.
