In 2011, Maria Westerbos founded Plastic Soup Foundation at her kitchen table. What began as a personal mission has grown into one of the world’s leading organizations fighting plastic pollution.
Maria sounded the alarm on microplastics long before the world took notice. She combined science, awareness and activism. Under her leadership, PSF became a driving force behind research, campaigns and systemic change.
Since 2024, Robbert Meulenveld has been the director of Plastic Soup Foundation. With a background in strategic communication and social campaigns, he continues Maria’s mission: fighting plastic pollution and its impact on our health.
Science has always guided our work. PSF leads in research on micro- and nanoplastics and their health impact. We collaborate with top scientists worldwide and apply the precautionary principle: when there’s risk, we act.
Whether you've been with us from the start or are just joining: together we build a world where health matters more than plastic convenience. Join us in turning off the plastic tap.
