Mission

Our mission: turning off the plastic tap.

Plastic has penetrated the capillaries of our planet, harming people, animals and the environment in ways both visible and invisible. We see the plastic crisis as a threat as serious as climate change.

That is why we expose the dangers of single-use plastics and offer concrete alternatives. Our ultimate goal is system change: an end to big oil as the driving force behind plastic production.

Our four pillars:

  • Driving laws and regulations
  • Holding industry accountable
  • Offering solutions and a perspective for action
  • Thought leadership

Multi-year strategy

We want to stop plastic pollution at the source. One way we do this is by making the problem tangible: we link it to our own health and that of our loved ones. It doesn’t get any closer to home than that.

The plastic crisis is just as dangerous as the climate crisis; they are two sides of the same coin. Plastic pollution affects ecosystems worldwide and threatens people, animals and the environment, now and for future generations.

At the same time, the debate is becoming increasingly polarised. Since Trump’s re-election in 2024, the fossil fuel, plastics and chemical industries have been given more room. Multinationals get away more easily with misleading claims such as ‘suitable for recycling’, and attention is shifting to other issues.

That is why we focus our campaigns and programmes on three themes.

Themes

One Health

We must prove that plastic and the additives it contains are dangerous to people, animals, plants and the ecosystem.

Planetary boundaries

Scientists state that the mass production, use and spread of synthetic polymers and chemicals have exceeded the safe limits of the Earth. This disrupts natural cycles.
We must therefore produce far less plastic with less hazardous chemical additives. We must also stop plastic leakage into the environment as quickly as possible

Solutions and Escalation

By putting the spotlight on fully biodegradable plastics, these innovations gradually become financially and economically viable.
By offering consumers a free app that shows whether a product contains plastic, and then offering alternatives, people are given a perspective for action.
A lot of publicity, combined with political and legal pressure, must lead to an end to the damage that plastic causes to our own health and that of the planet.
