You are here: The Issue Bogus solutions

Bogus solutions

As much as Plastic Soup Foundation would like to applaud all possible solutions to the plastic problem, that’s not realistic. Here you can read more about the so-called bogus solutions: bad solutions that don’t actually solve the problem. An example of such a tricky subject is recycling:

Recycling Myth

The process of recycling plastic is not a solution against plastic pollution, mostly because recycling plastic is a myth.

Consumer Behaviour

Campaigns based on consumer behaviour are flourishing to fight against plastic waste pollution. But what does it mean, and does it work?

Lightweight plastic packaging

Lightweight plastic packaging does not mean that less plastic is used in the process; in fact, more lightweight packages are produced.

Compostable plastic

What is the problem with biodegradable plastic and what are compostable plastics? Learn more about the differents bio-based plastics.

Self-regulation & greenwashing

Self-regulation and greenwashing are two strategies widely used by the plastic industry to avoid taking actions against plastic production.
