FESTIVE LAUNCH ‘BACK TO THE PLASTIC AGE’
6 October 2022
Publishing a children’s book is not something you do overnight. It took us almost three years, but yesterday was finally the day: the super festive presentation in the Planetarium of ARTIS.
SUCCESSFUL LAUNCH IN ARTIS
Author Geert-Jan Roebers, illustrator and designer Margot Westermann and photographer Michiel Spijkers talked about the inspiration and the making process of the book. Afterwards there was an opportunity to present the book.
Amber Kortzorg presented the afternoon and astronomer Milo Grootjen took us into space to see how vulnerable our earth is.
A leading role was reserved for the heroes portrayed in the book: children from all over the world who nowadays actually take action against plastic pollution: from Nina in Indonesia and Lizzie in England to Forbi in Cameroon. In a video they told about their work.
But: also in the Netherlands we have a number of young heroes who work against plastic soup! During the launch we handed the first copies of the book to these little activists who have taken up the fight against plastic pollution. Of course, all other children present also received the book as a gift.
LOOKING BACK TO A WORLD WITH PLASTIC
Back to the plasticage takes children to the year 2132 in which the plastic problem has long since been solved. It looks back in amazement at the plastic age in which we live today. Can you imagine plastic pollution ever being a problem of the past? Then how would you look back on this time? It’s all covered in this beautifully illustrated book.
The book is currently available in Dutch but we hope to have it translated in the future.
