Plastic waste often seems worthless,
but in the performance More Indians, Less Cowboys, it is given a completely new lease of life.
Artists Rose Van de Leest and Thierry Lavender spent years collecting plastic from riverbanks and used their finds to build a remarkable miniature world.
This installation features mountains, cities and landscapes inhabited by tiny plastic “characters”. A camera mounted on a miniature train takes you on a visual journey through this world. The images are projected live onto a large screen, creating a cinematic performance with music and lighting effects.

What was once waste becomes an impactful story.
The plastic figures show how much waste ultimately ends up in our nature and waters. At the same time, the performance invites the audience to look at plastic differently: not just as a material we use and throw away, but as a symbol of our impact on the planet.
With More Indians, Less Cowboys, the creators show that art can play a powerful role in raising awareness of environmental issues.

By transforming plastic waste into an imaginative world, the problem of plastic pollution becomes tangible and visible, which is exactly what is needed to bring about change.
Performances will take place on 13 and 21 March in Antwerp, at St. Amandus Church.
